The St John's Cemetery dates back to the time the church was first built, and contains a number of notable graves, including First Fleet convict John Limeborner and several members of the Wilkinson and Underwood families who were significant in the early European settlement of the Ashfield district.

Cemetery records have become sketchy over the years (at least one burial at St John's was later exhumed and reburied elsewhere, without any record being made at the time!), but some records are available as follows:
